I need to get an aluminium trolley as I'm going to be car topping my boat this season for some long distance driving and I don't want to be lugging around the one that fits on my trailer.
Two options:

Yup, I've raced with a HR monitor a few times to see what kind of effort it takes. Going downwind it drops a little, but a lot less than you'd think if working the boat hard.
Obviously I'm talking about "max power" conditions here...
I don't have to be running at 140+, can quite happily...
I disagree - when I'm hiking hard my heart rate is between 140-160bpm, same as when I'm going for a brisk cycle or a run, and it keeps me just as warm as doing those two activities.
(I have to cycle in shorts unless it's below freezing or I get too hot).
I always used to be cold in drysuits when I wore them in my youth.
Nowdays my kitbag is as follows:
Rooster pro hikers
Poly Pro top
Rooster Hot top
Gill Breathable + fleecy lined dinghy top
Hat
Wet socks
neoprene gloves
I sail with this down to about 4-5 degrees air temp. I don't...
Someone may correct me - but I think that's the way the holt one is. You always have one line crossed. Our club boats have the holt (cheaper) and it's a bitch to let the kicker off properly in light air. The harken kicker is a slightly different design (bottom turning blocks rotated) so it...
haha, thats a pretty standard scenario for a laser qualifier you know ;) In fact it's better there than at a fair proportion of the venues we go to :)
Saturday was some AWESOME sailing despite being so cold. Oh, and it was pretty much dark when I finally got back to the beach. Kind of felt...
;) we'll see, I've got to prove it wasn't a total fluke by repeating it this weekend!
It's nice to finally be putting in the same kind of performance in the Q's as I do at the GP events anyway.
Forecast is all over the place at the moment - so no idea what to expect!
Did you get flagged in race 2? If so did the judge explain why? I think the same one did me at the leeward mark in race 3 when (in my opinion) I was compelled to break a rule by another boat not giving me room, but it's not an argument you're going to win is it...
And I believe it was...
Yup, it's on the dreaded May Bank holiday, which probably means there'll be no wind and it'll p**s with rain. Not to mention the +50% travel time both on the way there and back :p
Anyway, who's going?
And have you found anywhere decent to stay? Everywhere I'm looking at is either really...
seconded - with a creasable cloth like dacron, rolling is king. You can flake other cloths without worry, but unless you want nasty lines down your sail...
I've had the velcro straps come loose twice now - so have reverted to a length of rope. It actually seems to slide better and is easier to put on anyway. Just a twice round and a reef knot.
I just can't take the risk, I know that some people have never had problems but...
I do a small bowline loop in one end, then pass the other end through, pull it tight across between the traveller eyes and then put a hitch in around the loop with the free end - that way you get decent leverage when you're trying to load up the tension.
If you can buy a big old cheap van that you can kit out you're in the money! Fuel economy can be crappy though, so you need to take it into consideration.
